1)Ident 1: With this ident I wanted to reflect the humorous
side of That’s Tv as the channel is broken down into two key features humour as
well as music. This is intended to bring the audience humour whilst informing
them of the channel they are watching whist also providing them with an idea of
the humour content which the channel exhibits. For example, at 0:11 to 0:13 the
Lego character is being carried away by the Lego bricks which is used to bring
amusement to the audience as they are watching the character being carried
away. This is meant to interest the audience and make them want to continue watching.
Ident 2: This ident is meant to reflect the humorous side of That’s Tv whilst
also informing the audience as to what channel is on next. This is intended to
reflect the humorous side of the programme that is coming on whilst also
interesting the audience to the kind of channel that will be coming on and
seeing whether it would be interesting to them and make them want to watch. For
example, this can be seen at 0:17 to 0:19 where the Lego character slips and
then falls allowing for the audience to find slapstick humour from it.
2) Ident 1: The main shot that is used is a mid-shot that is
used to shot the events that are occurring within the ident as they unfold, some
shots are close ups that are used to show specific things within the ident such
as the container or the face of the Lego character this is meant to suggest
that these things that are in frame hold importance as well as there being a
single wide shot in order to show the large number of bricks hitting the wall. These
shots are meant to be used to convey the humorous nature of the ident and
create variation within the ident instead of it just being a single type of
shot. E.G., 0:15 to 0:22 there are two shots being used in the sequence a
mid-shot to show the Lego that is climbing the wall and the recovering of the
Lego Character as well as a wide shot in order to show the character then being
hit by several bricks. Both shots are conveying the humour in which That’s Tv
is known to possess in order to better fit the ident. In regard to sound the
main sounds that can be heard are Lego character in which is in the ident as
well as the sound of the Lego that is moving in the ident. These sounds are
intended in order to help bring the ident to life by providing sound to what
would have been a soundless piece of media giving the impression that what is
occurring within the ident is actually occurring. E.G 0:08 0:16 the sound of
the Lego bricks moving along and carrying the Lego character away. Without the
audible noise of the Lego moving and the character being scared it would be
difficult to understand what is actually occurring in the ident hence adding
the audio was the correct decision. In regard to mise en scene the main thing
that is shown within the frame is the Lego character as well as the Lego itself
which is meant to indicate to the viewer that it is comedic. This is because
the typical connotation with Lego is that it is meant to be humorous due to
the nature of the product. E.G., this can be seen throughout the ident however
is most prominent at 0:24 to 0:30 where the logo for the channel is being
displayed best showing off the nature of the channel. In regard to edits
simple jump cuts are used to continue the narrative along this is because each
shot that is being taken from a different area, so this is simply being used in
order to continue the narrative along and show the different comedic elements
within each shot. E.G. This is most notable at the beginning of the ident between
0:00 to 0:05 where the shot cuts from the Lego character to the box that is
acting crazy. This progresses the narrative along and is showing what else is a
part of the narrative of the ident. Ident 2: With this ident the shots that are
being used are a mixture close up as well as mid shots. This variation between
the different shot types is meant to be able to provide a balanced mixture
between the different characters within the ident and the different actions in
which they are doing within the ident. Typically, the close up is used on the
character who is active and complaining about his friend's lack of activities
and in contrast to this the wide shot is typically used on his friends who are
doing nothing in order to show the focus of the characters. E.G. These shots
can be seen between 0:00 to 0:05 where there is a mid-shot of the Lego characters
sitting within their home doing nothing as well as then a close up of the third
Lego character who has just walked in. These shots are used to set the mood for
how the rest of the ident will be similar to that of a sitcom in regard to
shot type as well as humour. In regard to sounds within this ident there are several characters speaking and not as
many sound effects that are being used. The large number of characters speaking
with their dialogue is meant to give the impression of a certain style of tv
programme that is comedic and is recognisable for the audience. E.G. This can
be seen between 0:07 and 0:12 where the Lego characters are interacting with
one another for a long period of time conveying the style of the TV programme
that is here. This is used to give this impression with the ident and make it
seem humorous with these character interactions. With regard to edits not much
was added to the ident in regard to transition or effects, simply jump cuts
were used in the ident in order to progress the narrative along due to their
only being 30 seconds for the ident. E.G. This can be seen at the beginning of
the ident between 0:00 to 0:07 where the Lego character walks in to find his
friends just sitting there watching tv. This is just simply progressing the
narrative along allowing it to get to the humorous parts of the ident. With
mise en scene the ident mainly shows of the characters within their own home
which is a small environment and the items in which they have in it. This is
meant to give the impression to the audience that the environment that the
ident is taking place in is a typical place in which would be used for comedic
shows reflecting that of the content on that’s tv. E.G. This can be seen throughout most of the ident
most evidently between 0:00 and 0:11 and there the audience would be able to
decipher the environment and the similarities it holds to comedy shows.
3) Ident 1: With the first ident the changes that were made
visually to there were mainly to ensure that the ident was 30 seconds long and
was meeting the correct time length that was stated in the brief and also
making any needed corrections. With some clips they were to long thus needed to
be reduced in time in order better fit in within the ident likewise there were
clips from the ident that needed to be repeated in order to fill out the rest
of the timeline. This was also too reasonable in regard to time as if the
ident was to long then it would not be considered funny to people on whom
watched it. Ident 2: With the second ident the changes that were made visually
were much the same as to the first ident where clips were reduced in length in
order to meet the needed length of the time for the ident otherwise it may be
considered not interesting. In regard to transitions, effects and graphics were
not added onto the either of the idents as both did not require them and were
there any ways in which could be used.
Ident 1: With the first ident the main change with the
audio is that I added audio onto the idents in order to improve it as well as
bring the ident to life. This suggestion was made from the audience who had completed
the feedback and believed it would improve the ident. Before the ident did not
have any sounds in the idents and to improve them, I had added in audio to
better convey the humour of the channel. With sound effects they were recorded
at home and then added on to the ident to give the impression that these
actions were actually occurring with the character. I also recorded vocals
lines at school that could be added to the idents in order to improve them
taking multiple takes in order to have the best possible take that could be
used within the ident. Some recordings were too long and the better part of the
recordings than the rest were edited to fit into the ident E.G., the Lego
character being carried away the recording for that had some areas in which
were not that good however the recording did have some good elements to it
which were useful and thus were used in the ident. In regard to additional
pieces of audio for the ident such as music or SFX I did not plan on adding any
to the ident. With the music there would not be any that would fit the scene in
which I was creating and with the SFX I could not find any appropriate places
in order to add it therefore I did not use the additional sound components.
Ident 2: With the second ident the audio changes were much the same as to the
first ident. This suggestion was again made from the audience who had provided
feedback from the original version of the ident and believed that adding audio
into the ident would improve it. This was done the same as to what was done
with the first ident sound effects were recorded at home as well as the vocal
recordings were done in school and then added to the ident. The same can be
said again as to why additional sounds were not used in this ident either music
or SFX. There was either no appropriate sound that could be added to the ident
and it would not be able to fit with the narrative of the ident.
4) Ident 1: In regard to how similar my ident idea to the final outcome of the ident the two are quite similar. Both my ident and idea had conveyed the humorous nature of the channel in which I had wanted to capture despite the final outcome of the ident not being as smooth as I had imagined it like at 0:10 to 0:11 where the Lego character is falling and is then being carried away by the bricks where he is falling is not exactly the most believable. There were some scenes in which I had imagined differently when coming up with the idea for the ident however due to the limitations of budget and time I was unable to create the scenes exactly how I imagined them. Such as 0:11 to 0:17 where the bricks are carrying away the Lego character as well as the bricks then climbing up the wall. These scenes were not the same as which was originally thought of however due to time constraints and resources available, they were unable to come out the same as envisioned as originally with the bricks I wanted the Lego characters arm to come out of there and then go back in. With the bricks climbing up the wall I had wanted the scene to be smoother in the transition of the bricks climbing up the wall. Due to time constraints, I was unable to make these scenes in how I had originally imagined. Ident 2: With regard to the second ident being similar to the original idea for it the two of them are quite similar to one another with a few differences. The original idea for the ident was meant to be reflecting of the comedy side of the channel and it was able to do so via a comedy sketch which would provide indication as to what is on next. This was achieved in the final outcome of the ident and the shots are very similar in how I had imagined them however there were a couple of scenes that did not come out exactly in how I had imagined them. Example at 0:11 to 0:19 the shots did not come out exactly as I wanted to and is difficult to understand the message that is being portrayed in the ident however can still be considered humorous. The Lego character in who is originally unpacking their bag as well as being the one to fall over the do not poses the smoothest of animation and can be considered difficult to understand due this. Overall, I am happy with the outcome of the ident that was produced and is similar to how I imagined the ident originally if not completely being what I had envisioned.
